What Will My First Treatment Be Like?

If this is your first appointment, please fill out and bring the “First Time Patient Paperwork”:

Health History Intake

Informed Consent

5 Element Questionnaire

Your initial treatment will take about 90 minutes, with extra time spent discussing your goals and expectations, health history, and any questions you may have. I will go over the medical history intake that you will bring filled out with your signed informed consent.

If you are interested, I will explain how your current imbalances would be viewed thru the CCM lens and connect the dots, so to speak.  If we agree herbal support would assist you, I will tell you about the extra cost of them and when they will be available as I order as needed.  You will receive a dietary guideline for your specific constitution.

The treatment itself will last about 30-40 minutes.

I recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing.

It is suggested to eat a small meal at least an hour before your session.

What are the Benefits of Acupuncture?
Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine are profound ways to assist your body find balance.  It has a 4,000 year history rich of documentation of varying protocols to deal with any imbalance, disease, virus, bacteria or emotional instability.    Classical Chinese medicine is an holistic approach to nourish one’s capacity to self-heal and release that which no longer serves.  It is an amazing complement to western medicine as can address side effects of medications and various procedures.   During each initial intake we will always discuss if it is advised to work with a MD, Therapist, Psychiatrist,Naturopathic Doctor, Nutritionist etc…  I am a firm believer in team work from many modalities to assist you in your journey!!!
Is Acupuncture Safe?
Acupuncture does have some RARE exceptions, which are listed on the Informed Consent.  In general, I find clients to be so relaxed after a treatment I encourage taking some time to ground oneself afterwards before driving off.  Clients are always invited to sit by the river which is next to my office and listen to the water.
How Many Sessions Do I Need?
Balancing ourselves is a journey, and acupuncture is a process. It is extremely rare for a single treatment to solve chronic symptoms. It is often advised that for every year one experienced an imbalance, a solid and consistent month of “treatment” (acupuncture, herbs, lifestyle changes, diet, etc…) will be needed to shift the imbalance. It is often recommended to commit to 4-6 sessions, and to be a willing participant in Your Wellness. We can work together to dig to the roots of the issue, rather than just pruning the branches.
Are You Covered by Insurance?
I recently decided that my time was of more value than what insurance wishes to pay.   My most recent blog shares my intentions.  Please reach out if you do have financial struggles and I will always try to work with you or make other suggestions.
